Life is a gamble when I’m all about my poker chips

I'm pretty sure there's a lot more to life than being really, really, ridiculously good looking. And I plan on finding out what that is.

Spirit Week is just finishing up this weekend with some of my favorite events of the semester- Casino Night and Midnight Madness.

This year’s Spirit Week theme was “All We Do Is Win.” (For clarification, see the song by DJ Khaled.) Each class got cool t-shirts, rally towels, thunder sticks, and more. The thing I love about theme weekends is all the free RWU stuff I get.

Even Roger needs to get dressed up.

Last night, the Field House was turned into a casino, with blackjack, craps, poker, and a Wii Dance competition. Instead of playing for cash, chips were cashed in for raffle tickets for prizes like a TomTom GPS, a digital camera, movie tickets, RWU blankets, and a Wii.

Immediately following that, was the pep rally- Midnight Madness. This year’s theme was Blackout- so tons of blacklight t-shirts, neon paint, and awesomeness ensued.

The rest of Homecoming/Parents Weekend should be tons of fun- the weather is perfect fall New England crisp, the President’s Brunch is tomorrow (which guarantees our already good food will be FANTASTIC.)
Other events going on are St. Baldricks Day, which raises money and awareness for childhod cancer when volunteers shave their heads in solidarity with kids fighting the disease; the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk; and soccer and volleyball games.
All in all, it’s been a great week,
Tom
P.S. Good luck to all the crewbies at the Head of the Charles Regatta today...I know you're Reddy/ready to win.

Keep on Livin’

I love that it's still okay to dress ridiculously without being judged.

Well, well, well…it’s been a while.

Class, work, and life has been keeping me so busy.

If it looks like I’m not wearing clothes in the above picture…I’m not. Kinda. Recently, one of my friends, Abby, had an ABC Party (Anything But Clothes). The idea is to make an outfit out of non-traditional items. My shorts were made of sticky notes and my shirt was a collage of newspapers. My companion, Jess, decided to opt for the caution tape route. It was a lot of fun, and a good way to de-stress after a long week.

Recently, I got hired in the Bristol/Warren school system- I start working with elementary-aged children this week in their before and after school program. So excited.

Since it’s mid-term time (already?!), I’ve been tied up between papers, exams, and presentations…not to mention mountains of reading.

That doesn’t mean there haven’t been oppourtunities to have fun…

The Sophomore Class just put on a Harvest Fair, with tons of free food (like caramel apples, cotton candy, cider, pies, apple crisp). The nice thing about the event was that the Study Abroad Office and Career Center (among others) had tables at the event to give sophomores more info on finding a job, going abroad, etc. Not to mention- there was pumpkin carving.

A couple of my favorite tour guides.

Delicious topic options for caramel apples...and equally delicious people.

The sophomore class also has a Black Light Dance coming up in November, called The Underground. Naturally, we had to do a test run, just to make sure the black lights worked. Okay, maybe we didn’t need to…but who can resist a little black light fun?

In retrospect...highlighter on the face might not have been the best idea..
